The Artables Story

Newsletter Click Here
Artables Canada is the production pottery line of Debra Cherniawsky -Durrer, who began her ceramic studies in 1984 at Red Deer College then transfered to The University of Manitoba where she earned her BFA. In 1989 Debra was accepted on a full scholarship to The Ohio State University where she graduated with an Masters of Fine Art with a major in ceramics. Upon returning to her native homeland, Debra paid close attention to the beauty of the flora and fauna and began producing a whimsical line of Canadiana that celebrates the innocence and beauty of the unspoiled natural surroundings of Alberta.

Artables  Canada began marketing at local craft fairs and national wholesale shows and responded to customer requests for regional designs and personalization. By working closely with our retail customers and listening to the marketplace Artables has become a huge success story with worldwide distribution.  Each design is well tested and painted to order for your own added personal touch.

The wooden packaging is uniquely Artables and very protective to ensure easy gifting, display and safe travel.

Regional Designs

Artables is famous the world over for the whimsical wildlife and fabulous floral designs created by Debra in her Calgary studio.

We specialize in regional images of Canada that have been developed since 1996.  We work hand in hand with our local and national retailers to continually add to our extensive repetoire of light hearted underglaze paintings
on earthenware clay.

One of a Kind Originals

Debra started throwing on the potter's wheel in 1986 when she began art school training at Red Deer College. Her original pottery captures the fluidity and movement of  the clay and the layers of brushwork in the landscape series lends itself to entire process of working with wet clay.
