painting
canvas, throwing and altering clay on the potters wheel has been a full time daily art practice.
Art making is a lifestyle choice and an intensive study that has opened the door to a further understanding of the cultural and political history that has documented and shaped our society.
With continued fascination for the process, Debra has been developing the skill of underglaze slip decorating called "barbotine" which originated in France in the 18 th century.
Whimsical and loosely drawn linear pieces have dominated the 13 year history of Artables limited studio production.
Painter and designer, Debra Cherniawky - Durrer initiated a lifetime career by working under the direction of Charles Wissinger and Joseph Reeder at Red Deer College, then received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at The University of Manitoba where she was priviledged to work with Robert Flynn and Robert Archambeau. In 1990 Debra concluded a six year Masters of Fine Arts degree at the Ohio State University and continued to launch a full time profession marketed to a global audience. |
